Onshore

Construction of the onshore elements of the project began in autumn 2015, with civil and enabling works at the substation site and cable route works being undertaken by contractors.

Now completed, the only above ground element intrinsic to the wind farm infrastructure is the onshore substation. The 26.8 kilometres of electricity cable, that runs from the coast to the onshore substation, is buried which means once all the reinstatement has taken place, it will not be visible. Whenever possible, access to the cable for maintenance and repairs will be done via link boxes, also buried, that are located at intervals along the route.

The operations and maintenance base is also a permanent structure, located within the Port at Newhaven and comprising offices, warehousing and quayside facilities for the wind farm work vessels.
