Little Big Bang at Kings Academy Ringmer

Rampion Offshore Wind Little Big Bang at Kings Academy Ringmer

Held at the Kings Academy Ringer, the event was visited by over 200 year 5 students, and was an exciting celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM).

Students were able to experience a wide variety of hands-on workshops, including chemistry experiments and a workshop with robots.

The Rampion team had two mini wind turbines that demonstrated to students how energy from the wind is converted to electricity. Students then had the opportunity to change the number and position of blades and the gearbox design to see hoe this makes a difference to the electrical output.

As the south coast’s only offshore wind farm, Rampion has a key role to play in supporting initiatives that encourage local young people to take up STEAM subjects and consider offshore wind energy as a career option.
