Brighton Young Carers celebrate power of nature with Rampion Wind Farm

Rampion Offshore Wind hosted 18 young carers from Brighton on a boat trip to the windfarm (on 28th and 29th May) to celebrate their music sensation ‘The Power of Nature’, a song about wind energy on YouTube.

Funded by Rampion, Brighton Young Carers organised the music project with children and teenagers who take on unpaid caring responsibilities for a family member. The young people worked with musician AL Start, from Go Kid Music, to write and perform a song about nature and wind energy.

“The beautiful outcome of this project shows just how powerful music and environmental awareness can be when they come together,” said Tom Lambert, Chief Executive of The Carers Centre, Brighton.

The catchy and heart-felt song was inspired and filmed in a session on Brighton Beach, looking out at the wind turbines, and a visit to the Rampion Visitor Centre, learning about renewable energy. It was written and filmed last year, and the young people recorded their vocals with Tony Bryant at Sunny Studio, Hove.

“We love the song that these young people created; it is moving, has a great melody and really captures the essence of green energy,” said Katie Scanlan Hough, Rampion Stakeholder & Visitor Centre Manager. “We are delighted to host some of the young carers on our crew transfer vessel to visit the wind turbines and experience their power at closer hand!”
