Newhaven Fish Festival Children’s Parade 2018
Rampion Offshore Wind Farm once again supported the Children’s Parade at the Newhaven Fish Festival, which was hailed as "even better than last year" by people lining the route.
Through the provision of sponsorships funds to the Sussex Community Development Association, Rampion enabled local artist Carol Havard to run art workshops for children to create colourful costumes, masks, signs and banners to wear, and carry, during the parade. The workshops had the over-arching theme of “Clean, Green and Marine”.
Those schools and groups involved were: High Cliff Academy, UTC, Seahaven Academy, Denton Island Nursery, Brownies and Girl Guides and Hillcrest Centre for families.
More than 250 children, parents and organisers took part in the parade, which was led by Rampion Plant Manager, Richard Crowhurst along with the Mayor of Newhaven Paul Boswell, Young Major Huey Cripps and the Earthquake Drummers. Cllr Steve Saunders, dressed as Sponge Bob Square Pants, was charged with managing the traffic.
Rampion team members from the Newhaven Operations and Maintenance base (located at the East Quay) were in attendance to talk to festival visitors and provide information about the wind farm - key facts, figures and technical issues - as well as answer questions about how to apply for grants from the Rampion Community Benefit Fund.
