Rampion continues its support of the Newhaven Fish Festival

Rampion will be at the Newhaven Fish Festival on the 15th June having funded school and community art workshops via the Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) to create ‘A Rainbow of Fish’ themed costumes for the event’s opening parade.

This popular annual event, celebrating Newhaven’s fishing industry, is now in its 16th year. This years event will include many of its old favourites including the Children’s Parade, which will march from Denton Island Community Centre through the town and onto West Quay – meeting at 9.30am and beginning at 9.45am.

Newhaven Artist Carol Havard has been running workshops with local schools and community groups, enabling many young people to develop their artistic side in a purposeful way, as they put their efforts into creating eye-catching and memorable parade costumes.

Carly Norris, SCDA Community Development Worker said, ‘We are really looking forward to another exciting and enjoyable Newhaven Fish Festival on the 15th June. A massive thank you to Veolia and Rampion who support this significant community event every year. This is a free event, car parks in Newhaven Town Centre will also be free on the day. This creates a perfect opportunity to come together and enjoy a fun day out….we look forward to seeing you all there!’

The Rampion team will be present at the event with an information stand, colouring-in for children and giveaways. They would welcome visitors to come and talk to them about the offshore wind farm, and new visitors centre which is due to open in Brighton in July.

Community group stalls, art displays, children and youth activities, bouncy castle and live entertainment will be on the west quay green throughout the day.
